As Summer draws closer, Argentario offers many types of activities for all walks of life.
The beaches are amongst shady pine trees which makes the area around the beach very quiet, relaxing and easily accessible. The views from the beach are without words. You have great mountains towering at one end where Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole rise up from the sea. The rocky sea with warm sand under your toes is what long weekends are made of. For the history buffs, there are Spanish forts on Monte Argentario that you can visit which are located high on the cliffs. The coast can draw the lovers of diving into the many dive sites where there are caves to catch a glimpse of sea life as well.
The cuisine is fish, fish and more fish. I ate so much delicious fish while I was there. I couldn’t stop just having one meal with fish. Each meal my friends and I had together we all shared our food. Being a city girl, when I get to the sea, I want to eat all the things that I don’t eat normally. We had vongole, cozze, with pasta, with more fish, I was in awe of how fresh and filling each meal set me back.
Being beach side was my paradise last year. After almost a full year of not escaping the city of Florence, I was dying for a getaway. An escape to see a different part of Italy, a gateway to a different way of living. On the seaside.
