Relais San Giuliano

Location 

Boutique Hotel de Charme on the slopes of the highest volcano in Europe, the Etna volcano, at the beginning of the Wine Route, the Relais San Giuliano is an oasis of peace and serenity, still steeped in the ancient charm of past nobility.

The property is 15 km from the city of Catania and less than 30 km from its airport; Taormina is at 45 km, Syracuse at 80 km, while Palermo airport is 250 km distant.

Hotel

The historic residence currently housing the Relais San Giuliano was built in the 1700s by the Marquis of San Giuliano, within a large estate of hilly land, once planted with vines. The complex is arranged round an internal courtyard, and includes, among other buildings, the Casa del Massaro (the farmer’s home) and the Palmento (winery), renovated fully respecting their identity. A stylish a corner of heaven, characterized by careful attention to detail.

The property features a restaurant, a lounge bar, a small wellness centre and a comfortable infinity pool surrounded by the garden.

Rooms

The Relais has 11 rooms and suites, characterized by a unique and refined design. The skilful use of natural materials such as wood, terracotta, iron, glass and ceramics makes the rooms highly welcoming and comfortable, also suitable for long stays.

All rooms have double beds, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, heating, kettle and a selection of teas and herb teas.

Wellness Centre

The "Sabbia Nera" Spa, which was once the home of the farmer, is a small wellness temple, complete with Turkish bath, Finnish sauna, Jacuzzi, emotional showers and relaxation area with tea corner. It also offers a choice of massages and treatments designed to relieve stress and help you recharge your batteries.

The cost of a Spa session (1 hour) is € 30.00 per person.

Restaurant

Ready to delight the palate of Relais San Giuliano's guests, the Restaurant ‘iPalici’ is the place where Sicilian food tradition is celebrated, by combining ancient recipes and modern flavours.

The menu includes dishes from both the farming and fishing traditions; the recipes take advantage of present-day cooking  knowledge but are the result of flavours, preparation techniques and secrets handed down from generation to generation.

Services & activities

The Lounge Bar is located in the Palmento, where once wine was made, today testified by the presence of part of the original wine press. On two levels, it offers a selection of over 150 labels of excellent local, national and international wines. Cooking classes and wine tastings can be arranged on request.

Check-in is from 15:00, check-out by 11:00. Reception is open from 08:00 to 23:00.

Pets are allowed only if small, on request, except in the Classic rooms. Rates vary according to the season and availability.
